Challenge

Barcamp Sarasota's identity, website, and print collateral did not clearly communicate their message or their mission, was too pictorial in design and lacked the graphic impact to stand out in its many applications and in the community.

Solution

Barcamp's brand is international in scope but Barcamp Sarasota is individual and unique in its mission. We created the local brand by communicating the core message of connection, education, and growth in the tag line: "spark growth". The campfire graphic element is required for all barcamp logos, so we made that the centerpiece between two conversation bubbles, to emphasize the creative, free-exchange of ideas and information that is the foundation of Barcamp conferences, lunch and learn events, and after-hours networking. The website is a work-in-progress and will continue to develop and expand along with Barcamp Sarasota.

Result

The new brand and identity stays true to the International Barcamp message and gives a unique voice to Barcamp Sarasota's mission of interaction to foster ideas and growth in the community.

The Barcamp identity recently won a Silver Award from the American Advertising Federation Suncoast.
