1in8 Foundation
New Identity

The first identity we designed for 1in8 was appreciated but ultimately not chosen. We went in a different direction for the second version with a more conceptual approach. We wanted to make the mark memorable, personal, and be uniquely identifiable as 1in8, yet adaptable to work with different types of cancer that the foundation supports.
Our concept that we are all "ones" is expressed visually by eight overlapping number 1's in multiple colors and sizes. It was the solution the foundation was looking for. The alarming fact that most of us will be touched by cancer, either personally or through a loved one is addressed, the different sizes and colors reflects our differences as individuals, and the various types of cancers will have their own signature color for each ad, web page, and publication. The more sophisticated and somber color palette better reflects the emotions of the serious message.
The identity of "1's" tells the world that 1in8 supports people who have been touched by any type of cancer.
After completing all of the initial designs 1in8 passed off our concepts to their agency for implementing into the 2011/2012 fund-raising material and new websites.
